What are comps?
Each professor from the four mandatory marketing courses (CCT, Online Consumer Marketing, Advanced Topics, Relationship Marketing) will write one question related to their course. The question is at the discretion of the professor. It can be generic or tailored to the student’s profile.
After passing this, you will complete another written portion assessing your research knowledge, and a final oral exam.
Forming a committee
You should do this in your 5th semester (usually Spring of your second year)
Your committee must include:
- the committee chair, who must be from HEC Montréal;
- at least two other members, one of whom must be from one of the other three universities;
- an additional member (optional) if the other members consider it necessary.
Administrative Preparation for the Exam
- [ ] Decide with your committee on the date of the written examination, make sure that committee is registered on this portal.
- [ ] Contact Celine to reserve a room for your written exam ([email protected]), if you would prefer to do the exam on campus (not required)
- [ ] Notify the Academic Affairs Office of the date of the comprehensive exam at least three weeks in advance
- [ ] Decide with your committee on the date of the oral examination
